Every new season I’m quite curious to see which trends have survived. Let’s admit that every season there appear some trends that you don’t want to remember. You may have bought clothes you try to hide as far away as you can, just to forget you ever bought them. In this article I want to take a look at a few trends of the S/S 14. Are they still a trend or have they been rejected? Are they worn a lot and do I want to wear them? I can’t wait to start and please let me know which trends you still (want to) follow…
1: Birkenstocks; ooh mighty, that was quite a trend. I don’t know if I am a follower, but I’m may be not quite the reference. I have always seen them on my father’s feet, and that is the image I will keep in mind, no matter who wears them. It’s not that I can’t stand them, but I still prefer the elegant sandal. This year you see the Birkenstocks quite often (of course the real season hasn’t begun yet), but I wouldn’t call them a real trend anymore. You do see more shoes inspired by the chunky heel and straps. There are a massive amount of "Birkenstocks look-alikes" available...

2: Sport shoes; we are staying in the shoe section… I really don’t know where this trend came from. Was it call from women with hurting feet, or has the high heel reached it ceiling (literally)? I don’t know, but I quite like the evolution. It’s not that sneakers ever are ‘out’, but the amount of sportive shoes you saw last summer was enormous. The air-max (and Nike in general) knew it’s revival and they were stylisher than ever. You keep seeing them a lot, and they stay very popular, but I don’t think it’s a trend anymore. It has developed so fast that it is a must now. And there is pair that fits everyone’s personal taste or style.

3: The midi (and full) skirt; the shorter the better you think? Than you obviously think wrong…there has been this evolution that skirts and shorts became shorter and shorter. But since last season the opposite thing is happening. Of course we have known the revival of the maxi-skirt and –dress, but now you are still able to show of a bit of skin. We are talking about the long skirt: long enough to cover your knees, but not long enough to cover you ankles. It almost makes you think about someone who can’t decide what to choose. I must admit I don’t really like the trend, but it really depends. I like maxi and I like knee-length (or a bit shorter) and I sometimes have a feeling that everything in between cuts off your legs. There are woman who manage to wear them and look great, but most of the time it are (high qualified) bloggers who dare to do it.
