Summer is almost here and that means it's almost time to go on a vacation. I am looking forward to get away for a bit and just sit back. Every time I’m on a trip, choosing outfits is the highlight of the day. The fact that I am somewhere else and that I don’t know anyone increases my experimental level. I can try out new combinations and if it doesn't work out, there's no one to remind me of that. Unfortunately there are some people who look awful while travelling. So here I have some tips for you to travel in style. I hope you enjoy the article en let me know what you follow…
Fancy shoes
The ‘they are comfy’-excuse is officially out of date since last season. Comfy has met glam and you can throw away your old and ugly trainers. The variety is endless and you don’t have to pay a fortune for a pair. There is no down, so make sure you have a nice pair before you leave.

A nice suitcase
Suitcases really don’t have to be ugly. It’s amazing how beautiful they can be. The investment worth to me, but do pay attention. Make sure you pay for what you get. You don’t want to end up with a 500-euro suitcase that brakes on your first trip. Be critical and choose the material, size and style that you think you need the most.

Killer sunglasses
A no-brainer I think? Choose for a nice oversized one and make sure it fits your face form well. Check my top tips for sunglasses here.

Tortoise sunglasses: Komono
A solid back pack
The last few years back packs have know a great ‘fashion’-evolution. You can find them in a lot of shapes, materials, patterns and sizes. It can be really handy on a day-trip. It’s a bit bigger than a purse and it’s easy to wear. Make sure to have one for yourself. I have bought mine 4 years ago and I am still using it. I highly recommend it!

A sunhat
You really should buy a HAT, don't go for caps or things in between the two. No,just choose a good old solid hat. I prefer the ones in straw with a big border. But in general hats are practical (if there is no wind), don’t weigh a lot and protect your face from the sun.

Fedora hat: Lack of color
Extra wide straw hat: Free People
A kimono
You can see it as a summer jacket. It's light and flows with the wind, but still protects you. Tip: take one with you on city trips. While visiting churces or monuments it comes in handy to cover your shoulders.

Knitted kimono: Urban Outfitters
An ‘emergency’-kit
This is something I always bring on a trip. It’s a little kit with some stuff that can come in real handy. The kit itself isn't stylish, but it helps you to stay stylish.Put it in your backpack and you won’t even notice that it’s there. But when you need it, you are glad you have it with you. I buy everything in a travel size, so I don't carry 3 kilo of liquid. My emergency kit consists of:
1) After sun, to cool down irritated skin
2) (High-factor)-sun cream, actually you should have it always with you!
3) A box of mints, you don't want to meet te love of your live with a bad breath
4) Band-aids, you never know what could happen on your hike
5) Tissues/ wipes, good to clean or refresh your sunglasses, mouth, face hands…
6) Deodorant, no explanation needed
7) A pen and notebook, for inspiration that needs to be written down
8) A little bag/box with nuts and dried fruits, they are perfect as a little snack or if your energy level is low

After sun: Ambre solaire, Garnier
Sun cream: 50+ Nivea
Mints: strong peppermint (Altoids)
Band-aids: regular
Tissues: kleenex (supermarket or via Amazon)
Wipes: parabene and oil free (via Abc beautyshop)
Deodorant: Dove
Notebook: Moleskine
Nuts: I prefer a mix of cashews, walnuts, almonds and raisins (kgcandy)
